All-new BMW 5 Series and BMW i5 Officially Debuted

Recently, the new BMW 5 Series and BMW i5 officially debuted. Among them, the new 5 Series will be launched globally in October, and the new domestic BMW 5 Series with long wheelbase and i5 will be put into production next year.

In terms of appearance, the new car still uses the iconic double kidney grille, but the shape has changed. The new car will also be equipped with a ring-shaped grille and boomerang daytime running lights. In addition, a sporty front surround design will also be adopted. The BMW i5 offers two versions, eDrive 40 and M60 xDrive. The closed grille is different, and the M60 xDrive is blackened. The door handle has also been renewed, consistent with the new X1 shape.

The front and rear enclosures of the new BMW 5 Series and BMW i5 are different, and the rear of the i5 is equipped with a blackened rear enclosure. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new BMW 5 Series are 5060/1900/1515mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2995mm.

The biggest change in the interior is the replacement of the dual screen, which consists of a 12.3-inch LCD instrument and a 14.9-inch central control screen, and a new steering wheel equipped with the iDrive 8.5 system. The new car also introduces the AirConsole platform to provide video player game functions. The new autopilot assisted driving system Pro will only be applied in the United States, Canada and Germany at the beginning. The new car also adds the human eye activation control automatic lane change function.

In terms of power, the new BMW 5 Series offers fuel and plug-in hybrid versions, of which the fuel is equipped with 2.0T and 3.0T engines. The BMW i5 is equipped with the fifth-generation eDrive electric drive system. The single-motor version has a maximum power of 340 horsepower and a peak torque of 430 Nm; the dual-motor version has a maximum power of 601 horsepower and a peak torque of 820 Nm.
